The best Pokémon trainers from more then 25 different countries are gathering in Hawaii this weekend to determine who is the Pokémon World Champion for 2010. After months of competition, only the best will be battling it out in Hawaii. There is both a Trading Card Game tournament and video game championship bringing two competitive elements of the Pokémon franchise together for one ultimate weekend.

Along with a free trip to next years event in order to defend their title, the Pokémon TCG champion will receive…

* A Pokémon TCG World Champion Trophy
* An invitation to the 2011 World Championships
* A Travel Award for the winner (and parent or legal guardian for players considered a minor) to the 2011 World Championships
* A scholarship award worth $7,500
* One box of each of the most current Pokémon TCG expansions for a year
* Cool Pokémon World Championships commemorative items
* A customised Pokémon Nintendo DSi XL

The ultimate video game battler will score themselves…

* A World Championships 1st Place Trophy
* A customised Pokémon Nintendo DSi XL
* Airfare and 4-day/3-night hotel accommodations for the winner (including parent or legal guardian for players under 18) to attend the 2011 World Championships
* An invite to participate in the 2011 World Championships
* A trip for four to Tokyo, New York, or Oahu, including airfare and 6-day/5-night accommodations
* Additional Pokémon items

Unfortunately only Europe, Japan and America got the chance to participate in the Video Game Championship so Australians missed out. Australia and New Zealand did got the chance to take part in the TCG Championship with several winners making their way to the finals this weekend.

You can follow The Pokémon World Championship on Twitter or visit their official site for more information. A big thanks to The Pokémon Company International for organising such a large event and Pokémon Aus wishes all the participants the best of luck.

Crobat, the Bat Pokémon

The official website for the Pokémon World Championships has revealed the special distribution for the 2010 Worlds Championships, which begins August 13th and runs through the 25th. A Crobat holding a Life Orb will be distributed to any attendees that use the Mystery Gift option on their main series Generation IV games.
